Welcome to the Byron Wrestling Association's website. This website includes information for our IKWF club (Xtreme), as well as the Byron Middle and Byron High School wrestling programs. This website is a work in progress and will be updated throughout our wrestling seasons as well as our off-season activities. It is the Byron Wrestling Association's hope that this the one place to go for all of you wrestling information!
The Byron Wrestling Association, Ltd (BWA) was formed as a 501(c) 3 tax-exempt organization to support the continuing success of wrestling in Byron. The BWA was created to support wrestling at the club, middle, and high school levels. The overall purpose of the BWA is to promote interest in the sport of wrestling among the youth, parents, and citizens of Byron, and to financially assist a disciplined and competitive program of wrestling. The BWA endeavors to develop in the youth supported by the BWA the ideals of hard work, integrity, and good sportsmanship.
Byron has a long tradition of success. The wrestling program has qualified 100 wrestlers for the IHSA state tournament. Those that have qualified have medaled 34 times and Byron has produced 11 state champions. The sport of wrestling is now more competitive than ever, especially in northern Illinois. In fact, out of the four Class A sectionals in the State of Illinois last year, the Byron sectional produced 10 state champions out of the 14 weight classes.
Listed below are some of the highlights of our 2013-2014 wrestling season:
In order to prepare our youth for this level of competition and success, the Byron Wrestling Association, Ltd. manages the Xtreme Wrestling Club, hosts an annual IKWF tournament, and helps defray the costs of our high school wrestlers attending a team wrestling camp over the summer. The BWA also believes in supporting well-rounded individuals and annually awards academic scholarships to Byron High School senior wrestlers who meet the scholarship criteria.
