Xtreme Gold and Silver Club Head Coachs Bio

We are excited for the 2023-2024 season! Coaches Mike Boyer and Jesse Linczmaier will lead the IKWF Xtreme Gold program.  The IKWF Xtreme Silver Program will be lead by Chase Stoddard.

Coach Boyer was both involved with the Byron Wrestling Program at a very young age.  He continued to wrestle for Byron throughout high school for Hall of Fame coach Bob Baker. Coach Boyer placed 3rd in the IHSA individual state tournament in 2002. Coach Boyer was a member of the state qualifying dual team in 2002 and the state runner-up dual team in 1999. After college, coach Boyer coached for Oregon High School at the JV and Varsity level.  One of the teams that he coached placed 3rd in the dual team state tournament. Coach Boyer has helped out with the Xtreme wrestling program for the past 6 years. They are excited to help develop the next generation of state caliber wrestlers.

Coach Stoddard started wrestling for Rochelle wrestling club at 5 years old. When Chase got into 4th grade Team Xtreme was created and started wrestling for us. Chase's dad was the president of Xtreme Board then eventually the BWA. Ever since Chase was a kid he knew he wanted to give back to a program that has given me so much.

Xtreme Wrestling Club History

The original Xtreme wrestling club was formed by a local wrestling coach who partnered with other interested coaches and parents to provide the best training possible for its members.  The original club, was an elite club comprised of about 20-25 families who wanted the best instruction for their children.  At that time the goal of the program was to bring the best wrestlers in the area together and to improve the quality of workout partners and the quality of coaching.  The fee associated with this format was cost prohibitive for some families.  This club existed under this format for 5 years and then dissolved.  At that time, there were six families who were involved with the old club who wanted the club continue in some form.  Two of the coaches from the original club who lived in Byron, thought they could keep some of the same principles of the original club, but make it more available, and affordable to people in Byron and the surrounding communities.  The current Xtreme Wrestling Club reformed under the guidance of the Byron Wrestling Association (BWA). and the Byron Park District in 2009.  It was at this time the BWA began administering and running the program through the Byron Park District.  Starting with the 2019 - 2020 season the Xtreme Wrestling Club is now a stand alone entity and is no longer associated with the Byron Park District.

The result of this partnership has been the creation of a club where everyone is welcome. It has created a safe and fun environment, where kids can compete at any level they so choose.  It has become a family of people who look out for one another and who offer support for the beginning wrestler as well as the ones who are training to be state or national champions.  It is a program filled with positive and responsible adult role models who are teaching young athletes to be good people and productive citizens as well as successful wrestlers.

Financial Assistance

The Byron Wrestling Association (BWA) believes strongly that any individual wanting to wrestle regardless of financial circumstances should be allowed to participate with the Xtreme Wrestling Club.  If you would like to register your son or daughter but would like financial assistance from the BWA, please email byronwrestlingassociation@gmail.com to discuss options.
